Special student savings

amazonNot many things in life are free, especially for college students who don’t make much money or have money at all.

However, Amazon, the online site, offers a free Amazon Prime membership for college students.

Amazon Student is a free membership program created especially for college students. Members receive benefits such as six months of free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime, and e-mail alerts for discounts and promotions.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member already, you can also join the student program and they will send you by email discounts and promotions.

After the six-month promotion ends, you have the option of upgrading to full Amazon Prime benefits at a cost of $39 a year (normally $79 a year) for up to four years, but if you don’t want to upgrade, you will have to manually go to your account settings and disable the automatic renewal.

When and if you do upgrade to the full Prime membership, you will have access to unlimited free two-day shipping with no minimum order size, free release-date delivery on video games, DVDs, books and more, a Kindle book to borrow for free each month from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, and unlimited instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows with Prime instant videos.

All these benefits for $39 a year, is a steal! That’s more than paying for cable a month.

After you graduate or at the end of your fourth year of Amazon Student $39 Prime benefits, whichever comes first, your subscription will automatically upgrade on its anniversary date into a full paid subscription for Amazon Prime at $79 a year, so if you don’t want to continue after four years all the benefits, then you should cancel before it renews, but even then its still a bargain at $79 a year for all those benefits.
