Rain predictions bring mudslide warning

Glendora officials have raised the city’s mudslide alert from green to yellow for homes located within the Colby Fire Impact Area.  A yellow alert asks residents in the Impact Area to be mindful that there is a storm and conditions could change and be more intense than currently forecasted. Parking restrictions will also be in effect.

The raise in alert comes in response to forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association that is predicting storm late Monday night into Tuesday morning that could deliver half and inch to one inch of rain, according to a written statement.

“Although there could be a possibility of thunderstorms associated which could cause heavier downpours causing light mud flows in some areas of the Colby Fire Impact Area, current forecasts by either NOAA or LA County Flood Control do not indicate any heavy potential mud flows.” the statement said.

The Glendora Police Department will increase patrols in the Impact Area and encourage residents to read more about the color alert system at www.cityofglendora.org/colbyfire and sign up for Nixle alerts by texting 91741 to 888-777; or sign up at nixle.com.
