President Obama says he will propose a plan to make the first two years of community college free to students nationwide.

“What I’d like to do is to see the first two years of community college for free for everybody who is willing to work for it,” Obama said in a video statement recorded on Air Force One.

“It’s something that we can accomplish, and it’s something that will train our workforce so we compete with anybody in the world.”

The video, which was first posted on the White House Vine account and Facebook page, comes a day early of the President’s scheduled visit Friday to Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee, where the President will discuss the new initiatives he will propose to help college students.

The president, along with Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will visit a manufacturing facility in Clinton, Tennessee to discuss the administrations efforts to create manufacturing jobs.

The President’s remarks tomorrow at Pellissippi State Community College will be streamed live at www.whitehouse.gov.
