Women’s soccer defeats Glendale

Citrus College defeated Glendale’s woman’s soccer team 2-0 on Friday afternoon.

“I liked the outcome. It was a difficult match. They put a lot of plays behind the ball earlier in the game and it took us an incredible amount of time to score,” said Citrus assistant coach Brian Dorman.

Nicole Graham led the first shot with the help from Jaline Miranda during the second half of the game.

Ariana Reyes scored the second shot within a few minutes with the assistance of Graham.

“It took us a lot to get the goal. We had trouble scoring,” said Citrus player Zariah Silva, “But it was overall a good game.”

Citrus had more control of the ball throughout the game while Glendale struggled to keep up.

“We struggled with a lot of injuries. We have a lot of limitations,” said Glendale’s head coach Jorge Mena.

There was a total of 24 shots attempted by Citrus and only two from the opponent’s team.

Despite their large amount of attempted shots, there was a high amount of fouls throughout the game.

There was a total of 9 fouls on Citrus and 6 on Glendale.

Although they had a lot of fouls, the game was played fair and both teams agreed.

“Citrus is a better team. They beat us. They played fair. They did what they had to do and we did what we had to do,” said Mena.

Overall, Citrus really defended themselves to get the win.

“We need to keep up the wins and try to get to playoffs,” said Silva.
