Citrus College postpones commencement until Dec. 5 due to COVID-19 pandemic

Perri announces backup ceremony date of Dec. 7

Citrus College delayed commencement for 2020 graduates until Dec. 5, with a back-up date of Dec. 7 in case of rain, Superintendent/President Geraldine Perri, Ph.D., said in an email on April 20.

“After much consideration, the decision was made to offer an in-person ceremony to adequately honor our 2020 graduates and give them the recognition they deserve for all their hard work, while ensuring the health and safety of the college community,” Perri said.

The deadline to file for graduation is June 12.

Citrus vice presidents Martha McDonald and Arvid Spor said in an email to students the decision to postpone was made to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The COVID-19 pandemic caused graduation delays for some students who transitioned to online classes mid-semester.

Perri thanked Citrus faculty and staff for their commitment to students while they adjust to a “new, temporary way of life” in the pandemic.

“Please know that your efforts in providing the quality education and support services that our college is known for, as well as your dedication to keeping our institutional operations running smoothly, have not gone unnoticed,” Perri said.

McDonald and Spor recommended students check the 104th Commencement Ceremony 2020 webpage on the Citrus website for details and updates.
