Career and Transfer Center aid transfer students during COVID-19

With the help of remote delivery of instruction in response to protect against the COVID-19 pandemic, students soon transferring to a university can be in contact with university representatives and counselors.

CSU, U.C. and private universities have set up virtual events so students can ask questions and get the information needed for transfer to the school of their choice.

The University of California system hosted a “Transfer to UC 101” virtual workshop on April 27 to inform people interested in the transfer process, which discussed the Transfer Admission Planner and Transfer Admission Guarantee.

U.C. Berkeley is one of the universities offering virtual workshops to aid in the transfer process. On April 29, U.C. Berkeley hosted an “I’ve been admitted to Berkeley, what’s next?” event to inform students on deadlines.

The University of La Verne set up an “Admitted Students Virtual Events” page on their website to aid transfer students.

The University of La Verne’s website page was set up so students can communicate with professors, hear experiences from current students and have essential questions answered, an email to new incoming students said.

UCLA will also be hosting an “I’ve been admitted to UCLA, what’s next?” virtual event from noon to 1 p.m on May 11. A UCLA representative will be leading the discussion on the next steps in the transferring process.

CSUs are also taking advantage of remote delivery by offering Zoom conferences to help educate future attendees on their transfer process.

For instance, Cal Poly Pomona is offering students the chance to learn about the transfer process from 3 to 4 p.m. on May 5.

The Citrus College Transfer Center also continues to host “Transfer Talks” virtual events through remote delivery of instruction, where representatives from the Transfer Center are available to address students’ questions about transfer.

The Transfer Services website contains all the transfer workshops happening this spring 2020 semester.

Information on transferring to Azusa Pacific University, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, University of La Verne and Cal Poly Pomona will all be available during the upcoming transfer talks events hosted by Citrus College’s Transfer Center.

The Transfer Center is offering virtual events such as “Exploring private colleges and universities,” “How to pay for my education at Citrus College and beyond,” “What can I do with a major in engineering?” and “Transfer as a STEM major.”

Students can also find all upcoming transfer talks events either on the Transfer Center’s Instagram, @citruscollege_ctc, or at citruscollege.edu.

Career/Transfer Center hours of operation are Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
