Infinity K-pop Dance Team Club opens free online workshops during quarantine

While all the planned club meet-ups have been indefinitely cancelled since remote instruction due to precautions against COVID-19, one dance club remains active through the quarantine life.

The Infinity K-pop Dance Club hosts free virtual K-pop dance workshops, the dance club’s Instagram page, @infinitykdance said.

Any person interested in joining the dance workshop can get the Zoom code and password on the club’s latest Instagram posts or send a message to them via their Instagram, @infinitykdance.

“Right now, we’re doing dance workshops every Friday over Zoom to hopefully alleviate some of the boredom and keep people active,” Laura Price, club vice president of the Infinity K-pop Dance Club said in an email on April 20.

Laura Price said that the free dance workshops are open to everyone.

“Even though we can’t perform or meet-up right now, we’re still trying our best to entertain and educate everyone about K-pop and dance,” Price said.

The Infinity K-pop Dance Club offered the online K-pop dance workshops since April 10 and plans to host them every Friday.

K- pop, a domestic pop, musical genre consists of an assortment of other genres such as electronic, hip-hop, rock and R&B music. The music genre originated in South Korea and is characterized by choreographed dancing with emphasis on being upbeat and catchy.

“We’ve only had two so far but everyone seems to be enjoying them,” Price said on April 20 about the free online workshops.

Since then, the Infinity K-pop Dance Team has hosted six free online workshops total, each highlighting different K-pop groups and dances.

“At this time we usually get at least 5-6 people per workshop, “ Price said. “We’ve had a couple people come in who weren’t in the club but just interested in the workshop.”

The Infinity K-pop Dance Club commemorated its second anniversary with an Instagram post on March 27.

“We promise to work hard to become a better team!!,” the Infinity K-pop Dance Club’s Instagram post said. “Thank you to all of our members for being amazing and for helping us create more amazing memories!!”
