Majority of faculty get paid overload

Two-thirds of professors on campus work overload, where they are teaching extra classes.

Math professor Mohamad Trad said he works overload to make more money and to try to help as many students as he can in their educational goals.

Biology professor Robert Goodman also teaches overload.

“I work overload because I love teaching,” Goodman said. “I get to interact with more students.”

He also uses his platform as a professor to attract students to his Wildland Resources and Forestry Program.

Both Trad and Goodman have been teaching overload for 17 years and will continue to do so for as long as they can.

Renee Liskey, dance professor, teaches overload because she works in a small department and she is the only full time professor and has two adjuncts. She also teaches in the humanities department.

“That makes the load add up quicker,” Liskey said.
