Classified employee receives award for service and dedication

The Above and Beyond – Classified Development Award was presented in recognition of a Citrus College Classified employee, Sean Osborn, Instructional and Administrative Systems Development Lead in Technology and Computer Services Department.

This award is granted to employees who give above and beyond service to the college.

On April 2, Osborn received the award and was recognized for his demonstration of vision, collaboration, service and dedication to Citrus College’s mission.

The Award Guidelines said, “Citrus College’s mission for students is to provide innovative educational opportunities and student support services that lead to a successful completion of degrees, transfer, career/technical education and basic skills proficiency. The college fosters personal and professional success through the development of critical thinking, effective communication, creativity, and cultural awareness in a safe, accessible, and affordable learning community. In meeting the needs of our demographically diverse student population, we embrace equity and accountability through measurable learning outcomes, ethical data-driven decisions and student achievement.”

Osborn not only explains his gratitude for receiving the award, but also shares his gratitude towards his hardworking team, “I feel honored to be recognized for my work and efforts here at Citrus College. I also feel, even though this is an individual award, my hardworking and talented team share in this acknowledgement with me.”

Chief Information Services Officer Robert Hughes, was honored to nominate Osborn for his recognition, “Sean encourages teamwork, coordination, and partnerships. Sean has served on several hiring committees, and have served on the hotshots committee; the Gizmos team investigating new technology; the Program Review committee; the SSSP Strike Team; the Student Services Committee, the Entry Team and the workgroup for the Actionable Improvement Plan.”

In the nomination letter, Hughes said that Osborn dedicated his hard work to Citrus College in the last 10 years. When the department was not fully staffed, he provided leadership and he continues to contribute his personal commitment to Citrus College.

Osborn embodies the college’s mission, as well as creating a pleasant environment with his personality. “Sean fosters a productive workplace with his humor and outgoing personality to keep everyone in the area enjoying their day of work at Citrus College.” Supervisor Leigh Buchwald said.
