Lisa McPheron has been named Citrus College’s executive director of strategic communications, marketing and public affairs. In her role, she oversees outreach efforts ranging from advertising to campus storytelling, with the goal of connecting the college to the wider community.
A Covina native and Charter Oak High School graduate, McPheron returned to Citrus College to work alongside Superintendent/President Dr. Greg Schulz, who previously served as her supervisor at Fullerton College. “I want to learn everything about Citrus College to be their number one advocate,” McPheron said.
Colleagues describe McPheron as a collaborative leader focused on students. Elaine Lipiz Gonzalez, who worked with her during the COVID-19 pandemic at Fullerton College, said McPheron was a positive presence in difficult times. “Even during a tough time, I could always count on Lisa to be positive and committed to students,” Gonzalez said. She added that McPheron has been visible on campus, meeting students and employees to learn more about Citrus.
Schulz praised McPheron’s leadership since her arrival in late August. “Lisa is an outstanding colleague and a very collaborative educational leader,” he said. “She is a student-centered leader who is passionate about higher education and Citrus College.”
Though new in her position, McPheron’s impact is already being recognized. Gonzalez said her leadership is improving communication and outreach across the college. “Lisa has filled a critical position here at the College,” Gonzalez said. “We are already lucky to have her.”
