Citrus College has unveiled a new logo. Lisa McPheron, executive director of strategic communications, marketing and public affairs, shared the design with the campus community this past weekend.
The logo represents the welcoming of change while still honoring Citrus’s history. The design highlights Hootie the Owl, the college’s longtime mascot dating back to 1916. Supporters say Hootie represents knowledge, learning, strength, and the spirit of students and alumni.
With Measure Y funding approved for new improvements, the refreshed logo brings a sense of renewal and a modern look toward the future. Supporters also note the update helps unify athletics. In the past, different teams used various fonts and symbols. With the new design, uniforms, apparel, and gear can now carry one consistent mark.
McPheron said the colors were chosen to reflect the Fighting Owls’ energy: “The new colors pair a deeper blue with a brighter orange, while keeping our classic blue and orange as accents.”
Along with athletics, the updated design addresses branding across campus, including signage and communications. For many, the new look sets the stage for Citrus College’s next chapter.
