Citrus Sports Roundup: Men’s soccer on a three-game win streak

Football

Citrus College dominated San Bernardino Valley in a 42-7 victory on Oct. 14 in its homecoming game.

The Owls’ Kannon Katzer averaged 11.7 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns, while Tayvone Miller averaged 7.2 yards per carry and two touchdowns. 

Citrus is now 4-2 for the season and will be on the road to compete at Cerritos’ homecoming game on Oct 21. 

Volleyball

Citrus College defeated West LA 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20) on Oct. 18.

The Owls’ Faith Evaro had 18 kills while Vanessa Marquez finished the game with 32 assists to help seal the win. 

Citrus is now 5-16 for the season and will go head-to-head with Bakersfield on Oct. 20. 

Men’s Soccer

Citrus College earned a 3-1 road win against Bakersfield on Oct. 17, improving its season record to 8-3-3.

The Owls’ Sammy Ghandour, Jose Alvarez-Novales and Isaac Ochoa each scored a goal to

 help the team secure the win.

Citrus will look forward to continuing its three-game win streak when it faces off against Antelope Valley on Oct. 20.

Women’s Soccer

Citrus College competed against Antelope Valley in a game that resulted in a 4-4 tie on Oct. 17.

The Owls’ Dianna Garcia, Emily Cherry, Samantha Casas and Jayme Beatty had a goal each.

However, Antelope Valley’s Brenda Garcia had two goals, along with a goal each from Megan Salvesvold and Kimberly Duarte.

Citrus is now 5-3-4 for the season and will compete against San Diego Mesa on Oct. 19.

Men’s Water Polo

Citrus earned an 11-5 win at home against Ventura on Oct. 18.

The Owls’ Riley Bagley and Colton Vale had four goals each, while Brian de Lama had 14 saves. 

Citrus will remain at home to compete against Chaffey on Oct. 20.

Women’s Water Polo

Citrus College grabbed an 8-6 win against Ventura on Oct. 18.

The Owls’ Delaney Latham had five goals, while Sarah Jurado, Charly Figueroa and Sierra Beltran had a goal each.

Citrus is now 11-10 for the season and will compete at the Long Beach Tournament on Oct. 20.
