ASCC president welcomes students to the spring semester in letter to the Clarion

Hoot Hoot, Owls!

I hope you all had a refreshing and rejuvenating Winter break and are now ready to embrace the blossoming energy and possibilities of Spring. On behalf of the ASCC (Associated Students of Citrus College), I extend a heartfelt welcome back for the Spring semester. Whether you’re a returning owl or a newcomer to our community, we are thrilled to have you on board.

Here at Citrus College, we celebrate a diverse learning environment, where we each share unique experiences, aspirations, and perspectives. Let’s acknowledge that we are all part of the same community, sharing in collective learning experiences and working together to develop our skills. This semester, I encourage you to delve deeper into your academics, embrace new connections, become a changemaker, and more importantly, make your Citrus footprint.

Creating an inclusive learning environment is important, and maximizing these opportunities can bring joy into your academic journey. Make the most of our exceptional campus resources like the STEM Center and Learning Center to enhance your understanding and excel in your studies. And don’t forget to prioritize your mental well-being! Seek support from the Student Wellness Center to navigate stress and strike a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular activities.

To further enrich your experiences at Citrus College, our Student Life and Leadership Development is designed to enrich your learning experiences beyond the classroom and increase awareness and appreciation of diversity. Get involved in clubs and organizations that spark your passions, from cultural groups to academic or honor societies. Join in-campus events and activities to create lasting memories and connect with fellow students and faculty. Don’t miss our upcoming event, Club Rush, taking place on March 12th and 13th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Campus Center Mall.

Your voice matters! Share your thoughts with the ASCC through the designated blue boxes located in the campus center, library, or student services building. Remember, we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you have questions, face challenges, or simply want to chat, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. And if you’re passionate about advocating for student needs, planning and executing meaningful and fun events, and want to explore such opportunities further, consider joining us next year! More details will be provided later in the semester.

So, let’s get ready to make unforgettable memories this semester. Your presence and voices are invaluable in creating a diverse and inclusive environment! I am excited to see you all on campus!

To new heights,

Brian Tong

President, Associated Students of Citrus College (ASCC)
