Citrus College (28-13) secured a 4-3 win in the first game of their 3C2A Regional Playoffs series at home versus Saddleback College (28-13), now being able to potentially send the Bobcats packing in their Game 2 matchup today.
After a relatively quiet five innings, both teams were on fire in the last two, scoring six runs from both sides, eventually ending off with a game-winning home run immediately when the bottom of the seventh inning started by Citrus’s Jaelynn Eaves.
Down 3-0, Citrus had something to prove at the bottom of the sixth. Immediately filling the bases, Grace Twente and Jaelynn Eaves scored in back-to-back plays, capitalizing on Saddleback’s errors. They used that momentum to allow zero runs at the top of the seventh, and to eventually win the game early at the bottom of the seventh.
The Owls look to finish the sweep versus the Bobcats, 2 p.m., May 2, back at Citrus College. If Saddleback wins, it will force a Game 3 in the series at 4 p.m. on May 4 at Citrus.
