The Owls were on their way to win against Bakersfield but unfortunately, they fell short in the last set. Citrus made phenomenal plays and were able to win two of the five sets.

Bakersfield regained possession and won the last two sets of the five, for a final score of 3-2.

Citrus’ Lily Whitney, a setter, acquired 28 assists with 12 digs while Emma Cristales, an outside hitter, led the team with four serve aces and 15 kills.

The Owls were super determined and high spirited for all the sets. However, the last set was brutal due to the errors that were made by both offense and defense.

Bakersfield would score and right after, Citrus would also score a point. It was intense for both teams.

However, Bakersfield was battling and they dominated the last set.

Citrus will host Los Angeles Pierce City College at 6 p.m. Oct. 2.
