In benefit of the Charter Oak Unified School District theater program, the Charter Oak Theatre Company will stage “Into The Woods” for one weekend only.
“Into The Woods,” originally written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, follows a childless baker and his wife who embark on a quest to undo a family curse. On their mission, they encounter several iconic characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel. This iconic play debuted in San Diego in 1986; its popularity later led to a 2014 film adaptation.
The Charter Oak Theatre Company will be mostly faithful to the original Broadway version, with the exception of setting the show in an attic, as opposed to the forest in which the play usually takes place.
The Charter Oak production stars Ryan Lee as the baker, Lauren Sandoval as the baker’s wife, and Taylor Tracey as the witch.
“The cast is working exceptionally hard to put together an amazing and beautiful show that everyone should take the time to come see,” said Tyler Guntenspergen, who is a Technical Theater major at Citrus and is the set designer as well as cast member on the production, playing Jack. This production will run in the HK Baird Theater in Covina, from June 4 to June 6, at 7 p.m. all three nights, and an additional 2 p.m. showing on June 6, with tickets online for $28.
